Welcome
The Mistreated - Cambridge's premier rock covers band. Formed in 2006 and fronted by Gwenda Dale, The Mistreated provide first-class entertainment and top-draw musicianship for any rock event or party. A cursory glance at our set list provides an insight to the breadth and style of the music they perform.
Examples of the band performing some of the songs can be found on the music page. Check when they're playing next on the gigs page.
Have a wander round. Have a listen. Book the band and enjoy a top-quality evenings' entertainment.
18/08/2008 - Bass Player Needed
The Mistreated require a full-time bass player. He or she needs to have a solid playing style (fretboard pyrotechnics entirely optional), their own equipment and transport and, ideally, be local to the Cambridge/Ely area. Of course, a love of all things rock would be a bonus as well.
All gigs are paid (split evenly between the band) and nearly always take place on a Friday or Saturday night, so a general availability to gig on these evenings are a must, although gigs bookings are nearly always a month or more in advance.
If you're interested in applying, please use the contact form to send us a message or email us directly at
and the band will contact you back and arrange for an audition.

Martin Pointon - Drums
Martin Pointon is a seasoned ex-professional session drummer with over 18 years of playing experience and hair loss behind him. Originally a trumpet player, the drums seemed a far more demonstrative, noisy and generally anti-social proposition which Martin discovered a natural flair for; so being able to do the aformentioned and claim to be musical at the same time seemed a good trade-off. The trumpet was condemned to a life gathering dust in his mother's house. No flowers, please.
The Mistreated are one of two bands that keep him off the streets and in the pub. His other band, KTP, are an original rock band with commercial aspirations.
Martin's weekday waking hours are spent staring at reams of java code that allegedly help keep buses on time. As a consequence he knows that a 'most-significant bit' is not a reference to his missus and he cannot ever be hit by the proverbial bus because he knows when it's coming. He also works with The Mistreated's guitarist, Bernard and, more recently, Stuart has joined the real-time bus management fold. Due to his programming tendencies, Martin was put to pasture designing and developing this website - currently a work-in-progress that he never quite finds the time to complete.
Playing live is what most musicians exist for and Martin is no exception. Although Martin suspects that everyone else agrees because when he's playing is one of the few occasions that he stops talking.
